Ohio Wesleyan University will be hosting a celebration of Local Ohio composers and four world premieres from their own student composers!

Come hear the awesome UCelli: The Columbus Cello Quartet, as we premiere four new works composed by OWU composition students and perform our commissions from Ching-chu Hu, Mark Lomax and Dick Smoot!

Admission is free and open to the public Presented in conjunction with I, Too, Sing America: The Harlem Renaissance at 100 UCelli, the Columbus Cello Quartet joins us for a performance of Four Women by composer Dr. Mark Lomax. The piece is part of Lomax's 400: An Afrikan Epic, a 12-album cycle telling the story of Black America over the 400 years between the start of the transatlantic slave trade and the present day. UCelli will also perform a piece by David Baker, the first African American to serve on the board of the National Endowment of the Arts. UCelli is a quartet of virtuoso cellists who also perform with the Columbus Symphony and ProMusica Chamber Orchestras. They will be performing Four Women by Dr. Mark Lomax, based on Lomax's 400: An Afrikan Epic, an ambitious story of Black America. They will also be performing a wonderful, jazzy piece by David Baker, the first African-American to serve on the board of the National Endowment for the Arts.
